interview with DJ and Producer KLINGANDE

Grazie !

ENGLISH VERSION

Hi Cédric, thanks for being our guest of VOCE SPETTACOLO. You are one of the most talented house producer of the moment in Europe, can you tell us how you started djing and producing your music ?

Hey! Thanks for these kind words J I started very simply, like a lot of young guys, in my room. I was at my parents house, and I was lucky enough to get my first decks on a Christmas. I started Djing like this and quickly I wanted to play my own music. That’s what brought me to producing and how I started it.

From your biography it comes up you had quite a lot of influence from Sweden ad Swedish producers, what attracts you most of their way of compose electronic music?

It was a feeling, this progressive house, pop house, that guys like Axwell, Ingrosso, Angelo, Eric Prydz or Avicii created. It really touched me, and inspired me. This is what I was playing as a DJ in the past, and it was normal that this melodies inspired me. I guess I’m following a certain path, a crossover between electronic and pop music.

You’re from Croix, France. It looks France continues to release always new talents, expecially within the House music soundscape. It looks is one of the few music environments, able to compete with the recent explosion of the Electronic music in the north Europe. What do you think about this?

It’s actually funny because when we are with french guys, we always say that a lot of Talents come from France, but most of them are not very famous in France. There is a paradox here, between what mass culture wants and listen, and what the “french touch” artists have to offer, and their success outside France. It’s really special.
Of course french artists are able to compete with this electronic music from north Europe. But I’m not sure there is an explosion of Electronic music in north Europe, we know the famous Dutch house since long, electronic music was strong in Sweden as we said with a lot of artists. It’s just a continuation and each territory bring different artists and different cultures. That’s what I like.

Your single “Jubel” was a great success, climbing the peak of the hits charts in Italy, Belgium, Uk, Sweden, Germany and lots of other countries. How does it sound to have gained such a big success within the last year? How’s your life changed?

Mostly my personal life changed. I’m single now, always travelling, missing my friends and parties every weekend with them. I miss my family too. It was a sudden explosion and I was not prepared for it. I had to learn a new way of life, in a rough way. It was not easy but I love it now and I’m stabilizing this new life now.

You’ve been travelling a lot in Europe and have also studied music in London. How important is to have knowledge of music in general and all its declinations in your work?

As a producer, I think you have to know globally a lot about music history, theory and all technics and new stuff you can have. I’m not a perfect musician, but I love to play with all instruments I records around me. You just have to know some basics in a lot of things, to be able to produce music correctly.

Nowadays in order to be “followed”, expecially for artists like you, social networks are a must and also a big opportunity to gain new fans and let them know about yourselves. What’s the relationship your have with your fans? Do you like interacting with them?

It’s really difficult, there is instagram, twitter, snapchat, facebook… I have to admit I can’t interact on all of them. I try to stay in touch with fans mostly on Instagram and Twitter. I don’t have too much relationship with them on socials because I don’t have enough time. But once I meet them somewhere on a show, I always spend some time with fans, take pictures etc. It’s really important for me to be available for my fans.

Your new single “Riva” (Restart the Game) has just been released and it looks like it’s going to be a very promising gig. What inspired you for this new song?

Actually I started from my work with Broken Back. We really worked this together. We were at my home and he started some ideas. We built everything around it. I was working on a violin part, but my manager suggested Harmonica and it happened that it was a great idea J We recorded new parts of harmonica with Greg Zlap and we had the finish track.

What are you working at the moment and what are your plans for the future ?

I’m working on a remix for Parov Stelar and 2 new original tracks. I’ll stop touring at the end of the year, to finish my first album…

Thanks Cèdric for your time. Voce Spettacolo wishes you the best for your future and career.
Thank you !
