Di Vito “Nik Hollywood” Nicoletti

Hi Shanti!! It’s a great pleasure to have you as our guest on Vocespettacolo.com. Lets’ start from the first question.. Let’s have a jump into the past.  What was your dream since when you were a kid? What would you like to do?

Oh well, actually i didn’t really have a dream. I’m a realistic person, I just live everyday like it’s my last one. Since I am a little girl, my parents teached me that life goes how it has to go and that you have to take every opportunity in life and that’s what I always did. Now I’m studying for accountancy, but who knows, maybe I’ll have a career in modelling. I like both of them, so actually if I can get one of them, I’m happy 🙂

Who is Shanti Vankerckhove?

Who am I ? Roh, that’s a good question! I think that everyday I discover that, but ingeneral I think I can say that I’m a very social girl. I love to listen to the others and help them with their problems, I really do care about my friends and family and their well-being is important  to me! I’m also a realistic dreamer. I know that this sounds weird, but as I said i’m very realistic, you could win or lose everything you have from a day to another. I had a difficult youth and I never stopped dreaming about a better futur. I’m fighting everyday for what I really want in life, and if you don’t dream that what you really want will come true, if you don’t really believe in it, who will?

How did you start and how was your first experience in the industry?

My very first experience with the industry was when I was 13 years old. I was on holidays in France with my dad, my brother and some friends and we were taking a walk in the city ‘Saint Maxime’. Suddenly we saw 2 photographers that built a kind of studio outside on the street. One of the photographers asked me if I wanted to take some pictures, and after asking my dad, I did it. 2 Years later my mom met someone who has an agency. That woman told her that she was looking for new faces for her agency and my mom told her about me. She showed her some pictures of me and then that woman asked her to send her more pictures and to meet me.

Can you tell us something about your experience?

When I was 15 years old, I started in that agency and I did my first book. I was supposedto get some contrats for some commercials. I did some castings but they weren’toptimistic, not because I was ‘bad’, not at all, but just because they always thought I was too young. Then I moved to Bruges (located in Northern part of Belgium) for studying. When I was 17 years old I did other casting in the hope to get one, but I stayed the second choice because Bruges was to far away and they were afraid I wouldn’t come to make the commercial. I was disappointed in my agency because I had the feeling they did nothing for me, I was just ‘a model’. They never called me back for another casting and I stopped. This summer I thought that I should try it again, one last time. I did an amateur shooting with a good friend of mine and I sended my pictures to differentagencies. ‘Be My Models’ (my current agency) were the first to give me an positivereaction. Most of the other agencies liked my pictures but said that i didn’t had themeasurements for modelling. So I met Michael Godfriaux, the runner of ‘Be My Models’ and it felt like this was meant to be. One week later I got a mail from him that said that it would be a pleasure to take me as a new model in their agency. From that moment on, I did several shootings and I really like what I do!

What’s the best and worst aspect of your job?

For me the best aspect is discorvering. Sometimes you got some special opportunities, like I had the opportunity to shoot with an eagle, an owl and some other raptors. You meet a lot of people like photographes, Make-up artists, other models, stylists and so one and everyday you learn more about the industry and about yourself. It’s a world where everyday you ‘grow’. The worst aspect is accepting bad critic. Sometimes it can get hard when a photographer or even some other extern people give bad comments. It’s hard to get a good image and to keep that image. It’s also hard when people tell you, that you are too fat or too small and that you will never become ‘someone’ in the world of modelling. Keep believing in yourself can be hard. I have the chance that we get a lot of support from the agency, I also get a lot of support from my family and friends, they do believe that I have a talent.

Do you comply more to your head or to your heart?

I think I comply more to my head. I will think abour everything I do. In the world of modelling you can’t trust everyone and you definitly have to think about everything you say and do as a model. I would like to be a role model for other girls, I would like them to recognize themselves in me. I don’t want to be that pretentious girl, so I think about every shoot I do, which clothes I’ll take with me on the shooting and what I write above my pictures when I post them on my page.

Do you really believe in what you do?…Do you really do what you believe in?

I will never say that believing in yourself is easy. I work hard to be on the top of myself and as I also said, I get a lot of support of family, friends and even all the people in the agency. Everytime I’m on a shooting, I work with all my heart, I try to give the best of me. Modelling can be a hard world.  If you don’t believe in yourself and in the work you accomplish, you will collaps. If I do what I believe in, of course ! This makes sence!

What does Shanti  like the most about herself and what the less?

What I like the most about myself ?! My eyes and my lips *laugh*, and the less, my belly. Also models do ‘hate’ some parts of their body. But I won’t complain about it, I do everything I can to accept myself as I am.

What are your project for the future?

My projects? You shoud ask my agent haha. No we are on some contrats for cosmetics and so one. I hope i’ll get one but we will see. I Would like to travel a bit and get some intresting contrats. For the moment I’m also making some tubes with a friend of mine (a singer). I’m not sure it will become something but if our first tube comes out, it will be available on my page. For the curious ones, the style is house, RnB and a bit electro.
