Abbiamo incontrato… Leonardo DiCaprio!

Leonardo Di Caprio vola verso la Città Eterna per la presentazione di THE REVENANT, il film tratto da una storia vera che racconta l’epica avventura di un uomo che cerca di sopravvivere grazie alla straordinaria forza del proprio spirito. In una spedizione nelle vergini terre americane, l’esploratore Hugh Glass (Leonardo Di Caprio) viene brutalmente attaccato da un orso e dato per morto dai membri del suo stesso gruppo di cacciatori. Nella sua lotta per la sopravvivenza, Glass sopporta inimmaginabili sofferenze, tra cui anche il tradimento del suo compagno John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Mosso da una profonda determinazione e dall’amore per la sua famiglia, Glass dovrà superare un duro inverno nell’implacabile tentativo di sopravvivere e di trovare la sua redenzione.
L’Hotel St. Regis di Roma è affollato da decine di fan che sperano di incontrare l’attore. La conferenza stampa si svolge all’interno.
La prima italiana di The Revenant si svolge, invece, presso la Casa del Cinema di Roma.
 
 
Candidato come miglior attore protagonista agli Oscar 2016.
Io non faccio film per avere dei premi, ma i premi aumentano l’attenzione su un film e questo fa sì che possa essere visto da più persone. Siamo incredibilmente onorati delle nomination ricevute dall’Academy, perché lavorare per tanto tempo, quasi un anno, a un film così difficile e vedere riconosciuta la qualità del tuo lavoro, è una cosa fantastica.
The Revenant è ambientato tra le lande innevate del Nord America nei primi anni dell’800.
Non c’erano molti storici in quel periodo che raccontassero cosa accadeva e ricreare ambienti, storia e personaggi, è stato quasi come fare un film di science-fiction. Per quanto possibile, ci siamo immersi ogni giorno in questa esperienza per mettere in luce anche l’aspetto spirituale di questi uomini che vivevano così a stretto contatto con la natura.
(Iñárritu): l’idea risale a cinque anni fa e fortunatamente è stata realizzata soltanto ora. Sono entrato nel progetto con il desiderio di cercare un’esperienza più vicina al documentario, ma senza Birdman non avrei mai potuto girare questo film come ho fatto. Cinque anni di progresso tecnologico mi hanno permesso di far sentire il pubblico come se fosse in soggettiva, non come un punto di vista esterno. Volevo che paesaggi e personaggi apparissero in tempo reale. Mi è piaciuto il titolo di un giornale che parlava del nostro film chiamandolo National Leographic.
C’è stato più volte il rischio di morire sul set.
Il fatto che il mio respiro appanni l’obiettivo o che sulla lente ci finisca acqua, sangue, neve, era un modo per aumentare l’interazione con il pubblico facendo una sorta di docu-drama senza percepire elementi di distacco con il personaggio. Non credo di aver mai partecipato a un film in cui la padronanza del mestiere sia così eccezionale.
È noto l’impegno per sensibilizzare i governi verso la salvaguardia del pianeta.
Il film racconta la sopravvivenza e il tentativo dell’essere umano di dominare la natura. Ho toccato con mano l’avidità dell’uomo che tenta di approfittare delle risorse naturali in modo eccesivo. Mentre giravo Revenant, producevo anche contestualmente un film sul cambiamento climatico, e mi sono reso conto di quanto l’ambiente si stia trasformando. Il 2015 è stato un anno simbolico, è stato l’anno più caldo, e per la prima volta molti paesi si sono messi insieme per fare qualcosa di proattivo per fare finalmente qualcosa.

Leonardo Di Caprio flies towards to Eternal City of Rome for introducing THE REVENANT, the movie picked from a true story that tells about the epic adventure of a man, looking to survive, thanks to the extraordinary strenght of his own spirit. During the journey to the American Virgin Lands, the explorer Hugh Glass (Leo Di Caprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and presumed dead by the members of his own group of hunters. While struggling to survive, Glass undergoes unbelievable sufferings, among which the betrayal of his mate John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Moved by his deep determination and love for his family, Glass will have to get ahead of a tough winter, in the unforgiving attempt to survive and find his redemption.
Hotel St. Regis in Rome is crowded with dozen of fans, hoping to come across the actor. The press conference will be carried out inside.
The Italian premiere of THE REVENANT will be released, instead, at “Casa del Cinema” of Rome.
Nominee as Best actor in a leading role for 2016 Oscar.
I don’t make movies to get awards but awards enhance the attention to a movie and this allowes it to be seen by more people. We’re icredibly honored by the nominations we’ve received from the Academy, as working for such a long time, almost one year, in such a tough movie, and being recognized for the quality of your work, is a fantastic thing.
THE REVENANT is settled within the snow covered lands of North America during first years of ‘800.
There were not many historians in that period that could tell about events and recreate contexts , history and characters, it’s been like making a science-fiction movie.
As far as possible we’ve caught up in this experience in order to highlight even the spiritual aspect of these men that used to live in such a close contact with nature.
(Iñárritu): The idea goes back to 5 years ago and fortunately it’s just been actualized now. I joined the project, wishing to search for an experience that could be closer to the documentary, but without Birdman I couldn’t be able to shoot this movie the way I did. 5 years of technological progress have allowed me to let the public feel like they were in a point of view shot, not like an external shot. I wanted landscapes and characters would appear in real time. I liked the title of a magazine telling about our movie and calling it “National Leoghaphic”.
Several times we’ve run the risk to die on set.
The fact that my breath glazed the camera glass or water, blood, snow ended up on it was a way of increasing interaction with public, doing a sort of docu-drama without perceiving elements of separation with the character. I don’t believe I’ve ever attended to a movie in which maestry of the job is so remarkable.
It’s known the effort to raise awareness of goverments towards safeguarding our planet.
The movie tells about surviving and the attempt of human being of dominating the nature. I saw how human greed tries to take advantage of human resources, overreacting. While shooting The Revenant, I was producing also a movie about climate change and I’ve realized how the environment is changing. 2015 was a symbolic year, the hottest year, and for the first time many countries have joined in order to do something proactive all together.
