NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR THE BRITISH ACADEMY CYMRU AWARDS
|

BAFTA Cymru’s annual ceremony honours excellence in broadcasting and production within film, games and television in Wales and will take place on 8 October at St David’s Hall, Cardiff.
The 1966 Aberfan disaster in Wales will feature heavily at next month’s ceremony following the announcement of the nominations last Friday. The one-hour film poem Aberfan: The Green Hollow leads with seven nominations, with The Aberfan Young Wives Club and Aberfan – The Fight for Justice each receiving four. Sherlock and feature film The Lighthouseare among the other programmes, films and games receiving nominations.

We’ve extended the deadline for our competition to unearth the next star presenter. We’ll be asking entrants to interview an older friend or family member about their first film, games or TV memory as we celebrate the nation’s cultural heritage in BAFTA’s 70th year. If you know any 7-14 year-olds who would be up for the challenge, they can enter until 21 September.

CLAIRE FOY TO RECEIVE BRITANNIA HONOUR

The BAFTA-nominated actress has been selected to receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year at this year’s AMD British Academy Britannia Awards, presented by American Airlines. The award, presented by Burberry, pays tribute to a talented British artist whose outstanding performances in a year have demonstrated the high quality of their craftsmanship. The ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on 27 October 2017.
