di Walter Nicoletti.
Hi Susan! It’s a great pleasure to have you as our guest on Vocespettacolo.com. Lets’ start from the first question.. Let’s have a jump into the past. What was your dream since when you were a kid?
I wanted to travel the world and meet the people in it. I felt we were all similarly different. What motivated them to get out of bed each day and joyously explore the world intrigued me.
What would you like to do?
I like to lay on a curvy knoll under the stars at night and listen. I miss singing in a band. I’d love the world to be more harmonious in a positive light for all of it’s living beings. I love honoring stories worth telling.
Who is Susan Johnston?
A person who believes in what they are living for.
How did you start and how was your first experience in the cinema industry?
When I was 7, I was in a play (i still have that picture), I was behing a cutout of a flower, being a flower and the cutout fell and the audience laughed. I remembered thinking that was great, laughter instead of being horrified that I dropped the flower. In Cinema specifically, I remember my dad taking me to the set of the first Great Gatsby with Robert Redford and was sitting on the grassy knoll on the front lawn of the mansion with some other kids. All of a sudden to my left with the sun shining behind them was a person walking towards us, he stopped and spoke with us, was friendly and smiling and left. That was Robert Redford.
Can you tell us something about New Media Film Festival 2016?
Technology is here and ever morphing. 2016 New Media Film Festival Redefines storytelling not only in the stories chosen but in how the stories were chosen to be told.
What’s the best and worst aspect of your job?
Best – being the first to witness groundbreaking, awe inspiring, knowledge enriching stories ever. Worst – boorish, unaccountable, entitlement behavoir.
How do you handle the pressure that this type of job involves?
I have learned to absolutely love the delete button on my computer J
What does Susan like the most about herself and what the less?
I love that i am constantly challenging myself as a human being, what worked, what doesn’t and why. What matters to us as a human race is important to me. What the less, i look into directly and deal with it regardless of how hard it is, it is the only way to move forward.
What are your best satisfactions you had in your life and career?
What is fascinating is from 13-16 I was a fashion model and appeared in pretty much every magainze and trade at the time. I would leave school to do modeling gigs, they took me to amazing locations and experiences that I wll always treasure. All from the smallest state in the US, Rhode Island!
Is life always better than a nice movie?
Absolutely positively not.
What are your project for the future?
I love space. I’m on a board with a newly retired astronaut. I’d love to see new media can play in the universe. Thank you for the interview. On my mom’s side, the family is from Abruzzo and Itri regions. I have visited Italy many times and LOVE Italy. Thanks!
